Misty-eyed Flara

Basic Information

Anatomy

A small groundcover flowering plant. The Misty-Eyed Flara has groupings of five rounded spade leaves on each stem and between three and five small flowers, usually yellow or a pale cream.

Biological Traits

Misty-Eyed Flara is known for a soft, pleasant scent and quaint appearance. Although rather needy in requiring intense full sun in a cooler climate, it is a popular plant for filling bouquets or decorating gardens. The plant is also a food source for many pollinators such as butterflies, bees, wasps, moths, and hummingbirds.

Growth Rate & Stages

The species grows quickly, frequently producing seeds that are quick to sprout after rain. Although the plant is an annual, its seeds are quite cold resistant, able to survive the winter and begin growing from the spring snow melt the next year.

Ecology and Habitats

Misty-Eyed Flara populated grasslands, plains, and sparse woodlands with ease, carpeting across the ground wherever the plant can get full sun.
