Polecat's Feast

19th of Kindal

Observance

A late fall / early winter feast day of Ludovic, the polecat god. The early morning is to be spent cooking meaty broths and stews that are continuously added onto throughout the day until nightfall. Participants are encouraged to fast or eat light meals in the upcoming days of the feast in order to prepare for the large meals served, often of wildfowl, fish, venison, rabbit, and bone broths. Liquors such as beer, mead, and hard ciders are often encouraged, and in Europe there are often exceptions made for those as young as 16 to drink on this feast day, provided it is with food and only one small glass.   Most traditionalists who celebrate the feast day will often only use stoneware and terracotta cooking pots and insist that only natural utensils be used, such as those made from wood, horn, or bone. Most cooking, whenever possible, is to be done over charcoals or wood fires, and much of the cult will build such outside their homes and take turns to cook no matter the weather. Drinking, dancing, and feasting is to occur well into the night, with elders within the family handing down traditional and heirloom recipes to younger members for the following year.
