Raporix
Basic Information
Anatomy
Raporix is a species of dragon within the wyvern family. These pygmy drakes are lithe with broad wings and widely fanned tails, built for speed and agility above all else.
Ecology and Habitats
The Raporix species is found in tropical and subtropical coastal systems across Asia, western Laramidia, and Central America. The species roosts on sheer cliff faces, trees, and buildings along the coast, often in high numbers, despite their territorial nature. They are almost always found close to bodies of water, such as oceans, deltas, and coastal rivers, never venturing far. Many larger species of birds of prey feed on raporix and their eggs, as well as the occasional dolphin and toothed whale whenever the dragons fall into the water.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Raporix primarily feed on fish, invertebrates such as jellyfish, mollusks, clams, and crabs, and occasionally on sea birds and their eggs. Primarily, they target fish that form large bait balls, such as sardines, anchovies, and other small ocean fish. The species will work in tandem with other species targeting a bait ball, often dive bombing and skimming the surface of the water for fish trapped at the surface. This can be quite dangerous for the raporix, however, and some have been observed being caught by accident by sharks, whales, and even sea birds.
