OSAD Session 11 - Dark Shadows
General Summary
Lor and Aimee continue to dig deeper into the murders. They go to a hangout of a local gang, The Night Devils to gather information. Lor pays off one of the members who give her information on the serial killer and that a member of The Dark Court, Xaeleaf, has been trading with The Night Devils.
Lor receives another call from Xune, saying that her brother is increasing pressure on the city to look for her and that she feels with Lor's support The Dark Court can remove Virrian from power.
Ali meets with Kenric, blackmailing him into joining him and Bill for the secret meeting.
Lor makes demands to Virrian in a public place and narrowly avoids being captured. Eventually, she is cornered by her brother but after an intense conversation, has him drop his quest to keep her safe by locking her up. Virrian points her in the direction of Xaeleaf.
Ali attends the secret meeting, where he works his charm on some of the Beckett lords and ladies. Finnian Beckett then reveals himself and his plans: he and the allies he has made intend to declare war against House Ward. Ali listens in on a conversation between Kenric and Finnian, where he learns that one of the allies Finnian has made is somebody called "The Mountain King". Ali makes his presence known to Finnian and shows him his skills with explosives.
Lor and Aimee climb Xaeleaf's tower and break into her laboratory. Inside they find more spider fiends. They interrogate her and while doing so Xune calls. It's then that Xaeleaf breaks and says Xune is the mastermind behind a plot to have Virrian framed and established control.
Lor and Aimee hide from Xune for a few weeks while learning what they can about Xune and the serial killer. They send a letter to Ali for support.
Ali receives the letter and joins the party at Star-That-Shines. Before meeting with them he pays Phizlana a visit, asking for his future to be read. He reunites with the party and apologies to Lor. The trio are talking when they receive a distress call from Virrian saying Xune is trying to kill him.
The party arrives with guards and faces off against Xune. After transforming horrifically, Xune reveals her true identity: Nidhogg, The Sunblinder, a black dragon.
The party and Bill battle the beast, with each member dealing and taking damage. Eventually, Ali manages to place a bomb within Nidhogg's nostril, destroying part of her face and leaving her defeated. With a knife, Lor averages her family.
After the dust has settled, Phizlana says she has a vision for the party, but says it appears to be coming from an outside source. The trio meets The Mountain King face to face in the vision world. He warns and insults the three of them, saying they should abandon their lives as heroes or warriors and settle down before it is too late. He says if they get in his way, he will break them. The party leaves the vision and wakes up.
