A middle-class sheep & mining family, named Sterling, purchases a large, but seemingly unusable, chunk of stone jutting from the North-Western Seas in the year 801, bording the sheep fields they had owned for generations. Upon mining this difficult-to-reach island, they discovered a fortune of precious gemstones and minerals inside! They were immediately (if unofficially) elevated to one of the wealthiest and most fortunate families in all Regencia.

Their family already owned the sheep-fields bording said stone island, so many agreed their claim to the unwanted island block was undisputed. The Sterlings, while owning sheep fields, were primarily a mining family, of respectable production and accomplishments. Others had considered trying to bore into the rock island before, but quickly abandoned efforts due to its difficult location and lack of access from the mainland. It was unclear if the Sterlings purchased the island with the original intention of mining it- but whether they did, or did not, they eventually mined it anyways. And what a reward they received for their efforts!- a wealth of precious gemstones and minerals were encrusting the inside of this seemingly pointless spire of rock! The Sterling family instantly became one of the wealthiest families in the country, enjoying fortune few could ever hope to dream of aquiring.
