Restful Sleep is Only Found in Death

As with all other kaminoha, Sakato gave up his family name the same day that he bonded with his partner. What sets him apart from other godblades, however, is that he no longer has that companionship. The circumstances of such a separation is a secret kept by those few who may be aware of it, but rumors abound from the younger generations as to how such an event may come to pass - after all, the bond between spirit and human is eternal. At least as far as most know.

When the time for the first journey of the newly trained kaminoha, Sakato most often declines to receive a group to train. That, apparently, has changed in the last year when he spoke with the leaders of the nine Edicts at Okumiya Temple. Most cannot even say they knew where he had been for the last thirty years, but rumors say he finished whatever business caused him to take his leave in the first place.

His most well known exploits occured over three decades ago during a period of brief spiritual fracturing. Best known as the Jigodanretsu, a number of Buddhist monks had come from China to participate in a cultural exchange with the primarily Shinto Edicts. The specifics of the event are a mystery to almost all, but the one known fact is that over fifty kaminoha lost their lives to an incredibly powerful spirit that appeared.
