Caitriona of the Wolf Clan

Jane Benitez's Ancestor Guide from her father's mother's lineage.
Born: 650 CE, Scotland
Died: 712 CE, Northumbria
Caitriona endured a life of many hardships. When she was twenty-one, her husband--along with most other men of her clan and village--was killed in the Battle of Two Rivers against the Northumbrians. The Northumbrian soldiers came into her village, raped the women and destroyed everything in sight. Just before the soldiers arrived, however, Caitriona managed to help her younger sister, Sine (as well as other children of the village) flee into the surrounding woods.
Although Caitriona was a warrior herself, she could not overpower the Northumbrian soldiers and was captured. She was taken south to Diera where she lived out her days as a slave, her name having been changed to Catherine Wulff. Forced to forsake her own cultural ways and traditions, Caitriona/Catherine adopted Northumbrian culture including Christianity. By the time she died, she'd all but forgotten the ways of the Wolf Clan.
Fortunately, her sister, Sine, along with Caitriona's youngest children, thrived in the hidden forest. Sine became the matriarch of the People of the Woods.
