Nizam

Nizams are a class of travelling tutors employed by the Dakdur League of Arduli. They are tasked with a staying in a settlement for a period of time as determined by the league, and giving the commoners there a simple education, with subjects such as reading, writing, elementary history, and practical knowledge.   The education system taught by nizams are very basic; as such, many wealthier citizens instead choose to hire private tutors to teach themselves and their children. Nizams do not teach advanced subjects such as magic, though some individual nizams might teach those subjects to pupils that appear to have an apptitude for it. Nizams do not teach matters of theology, as that is the job of the priests of the Court of Niran.   An individual becomes a nizam by taking the application exams written by the Dakdur League. While the cirriculum taught by nizams is simple, they are expected to be knowledgable in subjects broader than what they teach. Many prospective nizams study at schools to assist with their knowledge-gathering, with the Anabranch Lyceum in Gokolios well known for many nizam alumni.   As a result of the nature of their profession, many nizams also have other jobs, such as aeshkals, adventurers, and priests or monks of the Court of Niran.

History

The Nizam system was established in 1224 MT by Shah Nija the Binder. She established the system as part of her fascination with knowledge and magic, noticing that many of the citizens of her realm were under-educated. Prior to the Nizam system, education was often the responsibility of private tutors; the only form of public education that Arduli had was the volunteer work of the Niranist religious order known as the Skesila of the Mysfidites. Shah Nija created the Nizam system with the assistance of the House of Dakdur, working in particular with her future mistriss, Praezade Rieta Dakdur.   After the establishment of the Divan Leagues, Shah Uzza transfered the responsibilites of the Nizam system to the Dakdur League.
