Redpond
Redpond is an oasis village in Qamenkas that is under the control of the Baokish Territories. It is a farming settlement, named for the rich red soil of the surrounding area. Most of its inhabitants are Teraka.
Government and Defences
The leader of Redpond is the old-fashioned and unthinking male Ratfolk Renzi. He is somewhat old, and is easily strong-armed by the Zhao Ru. A detachment of the Wandering Shields mercenary company watches over the village, led by the mean female Hobgoblin bard Suygeh the Drunkard.Commerce
The red soil that Redpond gets its name from is rich in nutrients; as such, Respond has a large agricultural economy. Much of Fu Baoki’s food comes from there.Geography
Redpond is in southeastern Qamenkas, close to Mojika’s Chain. It is part of the Baokish Territories. The nearby Red Oasis is where the village gets its water from. Landmarks in Redpond include:- Shadowsong Arms and Arcana - a weapon shop run by the hypercritical and dowdy Shadar-kai woman Lamethral Shadowsong. A necromancer of middling experience, she also sells a few necromantic spells and components. Most of her wares are shabby and in disrepair.
- Sweet Leaf Tavern - the local tavern of Redpond. It is run by the caustic and absent-minded female Leshy Foxblossom, who sprung from a patch of nerium underneath the Shrine to Reinari. A modest establishment, it is most famous for its unique variety of teas that Foxblossom brews.
- Silverfleck Inn - a thin building managed by the careful and resourceful Skagondi gnome Nihim Silverfleck. Its six rooms only have one large bed, which is a disappointment to some travellers. Nihim can be seen constantly tinkering or creating something on the first floor.
History
Redpond was founded in 1292 MT by a group of Sylvan Sovereignty refugees fleeing the War of the Three Sisters in Hitochi. They transported themselves to the Feywild, but then were sucked through a portal that spat them out in Qamenkas, as it was connected to a Circle. The group then found the Red Oasis, recognized the fertile soil of the area, and decided to set up a permanent home there. When the Zhao Ru came to Redpond and demanded that the village be part of the Baokish Territories, the residents acquiesced to their demands. Part of this was because the Redponders did not want to start a conflict that they would surely lose, but part of the decision was also because of the Redponders’ and Zhao Ru’s cultural closeness.
