The Deck of Fates

"So, you wanna know about the deck? The gambler's prime prize? From what I've heard, it was a gift from the gods as a way to toy with the mortals. A test. See who's fucken loony enough to draw a card. No one knows how many cards are in it, not really. Hell, I hear an emperor once tried it, got a card to save his soul or whatever. He felt so good he tried again. Wife dropped dead that second. Not sure if that's irony or just plane stupid. But me? Eh... why not."

Mechanics & Inner Workings

A player may draw a card from the deck. They may then read the card, and upon reading the title written on it, the card will ignite and burn in the player's hand in an instant. The fire will not light any other objects on fire, and will not cause any pain. Upon drawing the card, the desk will retain it's size, despite the loss of card. If a player tries to grab a card from anywhere else in the desk, the card will be blank, and will combust seconds after it's drawn.     Upon reading the title of the card, the card's effect shall be enacted onto the player who drew the card. There is no turning back. Roll a D100 to determine your fate.   A book known as The Book of Fates is said to catalog the known effects. It is to accompany the deck, and each owner of the deck has been adding to it with every draw of the card.

Significance

This desk is a legend, and has been gifted, traded, stolen, and taken by force. It has been arguably the most powerful item in existence due to the power it can command. Though, the number of times it's been used is unknown, but most hope it is low. The world could come to an end if too many cards are pulled. Or... hell, just one card at the wrong time.
