Guardian of the Ordering

Mattias (Lemur)

The Aestimium

Every young man and woman in Renata can qualify as a guardian in the Ordering, but due to social pressures within the guardian caste only true native Ordering have a regular chance be accepted.   To be concidered a guardian, a person must have passed the Aestimium. It is a grand assessment of the physical and mental acuity of the candidates that is held every five years in Solace.   Once a person has passed the test they are considered guardians of the lowest rank (initiates), and the master of assessment divides the new initiatives between the Temples.

Guardian Temples

Every guardian in the ordering belongs to a Temple dedicated to one of the gods. Their rank form an unbroken chain of command from the lowest initiatives to the god they serve under.

Career Progression

Every guardian spends between three to seven years as initiates. All initiates receive a comprehensive education where they are expected to master writing, history, and the holy scripture. They are also being extensively drilled on the role of the guardians in society and are instilled with a great sense of devotion.   After this, the initiatives are assigned to one of the three pillars of their house, based on their merits and the current needs of the temple. The pillars are the soldiers that protect, the clerks that build and maintain and the priest that see to the need of the gods and the spiritual needs of the population.   After this, the individual may rise through the ranks of their pillar. It is thought that the distribution of the initiatives is ultimately by divine will, and so an individual rarely changes pillar during their career, and then only by direct order from a god.   At any time during the career of a guardian, they may be selected to be a @[prefulceum]. Prefulcrums rank outside the pillars as they are squires of @fulcrums in the ordering.
