2022/03/02: Arrival at Shisui Report
General Summary
Knight, Sith, Sunderfury, Ruby, Buzz, Voren
The party is now in the town of Fish Eye, which is a town on the border of Shisui. It’s a transitional area, where magic of both standard and Shisui types work to some extent, though powerful spells aren’t likely to work well.
The sergeant at the docks told us to go kill a kraken that’s been harassing the Black Samurai’s transports. When we found it, it turned out it wasn’t a kraken. It was a krakentoa, which looks like a mind flayer big enough to have a kraken as a head. It also had a trident and robes and was surrounded by a violent storm. The creature was so large it could reach our boat from hundreds of feet away.
Ruby charged at it, running over the waves. Voren used a special black bullet that hit it like a gut shot would a human. Sith blasted it with cold. Knight waited for it to stab at the boat with its trident, then jumped on and started climbing up towards its face. He launched off the trident on the creature’s backswing, landed perfectly on its right eye, and bored through it with his sword. Buzz, who had attempted to hide in the ship’s hold, started using Fabricate and his extensive engineering knowledge to 3D print parts to fill the holes in the ship made by the monster’s trident.
The krakentoa, roaring in pain, slapped Knight off its face and then managed to strike him in midair with its trident, slapping him away and into the sea. Sunderfury, undeterred, began tearing at the creature’s other eye, blinding it with with his body if not with his slashes.
After being launched down into the ocean by the beast’s trident, Knight discovered an active town at the bottom of the ocean. After the krakentoa was dispatched by the rest of the group, Knight, Voren, Sith, and Ruby delved down to visit the city. The city is under a glass dome with an airy water effect on one open section to act as a door. The population appears to be human, but there are some buildings (and a throne) large enough to be used by the krakentoa.
It turns out that the city was populated by people the krakentoa had “rescued” and enslaved. We met one of the town elders, and she agreed to gather up the rest of the townspeople so we could transport them out. While she did that, we checked the krakentoa’s throne building for treasure and interesting things. We found a box full of imprisoned spirits and freed them. Three of the most powerful spirits, Su Nam, Ashall, and Nend, agreed to act as sponsors to allow some of our mages to cast spells in Shisui.
