2022/06/01: Visit to the Mountain of Shui Den Report

General Summary

Knight, Sunderfury, Ruby, Buzz, Eldrin, Malakai, Sith   Sith appeared in the room after being gone for a day. He was wearing unfamiliar pajamas, his gear had been detailed and stacked in a corner, and there was a white rabbit sitting on his chest. The rabbit can talk.   There’s a shrine Sunderfury found out about last time that may be able to teach a powerful fighting technique. We’re ignoring it for the moment in favor of going to the mountain.   The Mountain of Shui Den is in the middle of a valley. It’s in the middle of a horseshoe-shaped collection of smaller mountains. Life is weak there, so it’s bleak and you tend to get monsters out of things you try to introduce. There are theories that this place was created by demons to help them summon some sort of king demon. Other theories say it’s a secret entrance to a secret kappa kingdom, though the kappa have no idea what they’re talking about.   On our way to where the Compass of Dream’s was pointing us, we saw an army of demons appear out of a portal and head downhill. Eldrin worked with Sith and Ruby to blast them into chaotic oblivion and (in some cases) mutation. A bunch of them ended up as mundane creatures. Buzz took them to Alvidar. While we were waiting for him to come back, Knight noticed shards of volcanic glass thrown up by the blasts. The shards were weird in an oily, difficult-to-define way. They made Knight’s sword shimmer when touched, they reacted to Torbronz, but Sith just Identified them as volcanic glass. They may have souls or fragments of souls trapped in them.   After we set up a phoenix-based blast furnace, we collected and melted together over 200 pounds of shards. Then Knight and Sith decided the growing sense of something terrible watching them was getting too strong, and they saw a scraggly wolf standing on the mountainside that no one else could see. We called the mining to a halt, but the wolf remained and approached Knight and Sith. They waited to speak to it.   Drus Nak is what’s left of whatever the wolf is. The wolf is very unhappy that the Rift Dweller outlived him. “Forge me into a weapon, get me to him, and I’ll do the rest.” He says “make me a fang”. He was able to casually use a god-level scanning effect to read our memories of the Rift.   While Malakai and Buzz were forging the weapon, most of the rest of the party went to find the shrine. It was found in ruins. There are images on the walls showing people training, cleaning, farming, etc., all with swords. Knight cut a way to an intact dream version of the shrine with the Dream Master’s Nail. Inside the foggy realm, we encountered an old lady who berated us for coming in when the outside is “filthy” and then she blasted us out through the hole again with a wind blast from her practice sword.   We realized we needed to clean up the temple by following the pictures on the walls, using our swords as cleaning implements. After some time cleaning, with instruction from Ruby who really got the images, Knight managed to generate a small wind blade past the edge of his blade. The training continued, all of us helping each other with different aspects. Sith especially was good with endurance, Knight was good with strength, and Ruby was consistent all around. Jin also joined us, and together we spent the night training. In the morning, after a long and tiring night, we realized that there was no dirt left to clear, nothing left to clean. And we had all become apprentices in the Wind Rake technique.
