Escalating tensions between New Hallownest and the Yellow Formian Empire led to a pre-emptive strike by the former on the latter. The brief war that followed removed the formian empire as a regional power.

Escalating tensions between New Hallownest and the Yellow Formian Empire led to a pre-emptive strike by the former and its allies on the latter. The initial decapitation strike failed in its primary objectives but killed a queen and decimated the formian population, and subsequent strikes ruined much of the formian farmland and killed a second queen.   The mad derro in charge of the city of Gertaglebrache interfered on the third day, launching a golem assault on all neighboring civilizations, including Darkhome and the formians. These attacks briefly captured the Darkhome mithril mining zone and wiped out another large chunk of the formian population. A retaliatory strike by New Hallownest killed the derro leader and ended the golem threat, and the badly weakened formians were subsequently annihilated by New Hallownest's mercenary army.
