Kalgrid
A large human kingdom in the world of Egain. It has a very large population, with the capital city being larger than those of Alvidar or Leithien on Renedge. It has a fairly standard nonmagical medieval tech base.
The size of the kingdom's army is in keeping with its population. They are well-equipped and disciplined. The army includes plenty of noble knights in shining armor.
History
Kalgrid suffered a famine in what equated to late 23 ARL in Renedge. The famine was secretly caused by a doomsday cult. In an attempt to at least stave off starvation, King Edward Celris used a recently discovered portal to Argerus to offer the services of his army as a mercenary force. This brought the kingdom into contact with representatives of the kingdom of New Hallownest, which was facing war with an empire of formians at the time. New Hallownest offered a contract and also gifted Kalgrid the solution to the cult and the famine, leading to the participation of Kalgrid's army in the subsequent New Hallownest-Yellow Formian War.
