Lady Æduræ

The creator of the crystal elves lies encased in crystal ever since she was critically wounded during the Godfall.   She survived the Enoch-Vacilicus' attempts on her life, but only narrowly. She was shot in the heart by the Godslayer, the fatal blow barely prevented by the mortal closest to her, Solana. The healers and high priestesses of her clergy have spent the past millennium trying to find a way to bring her back.

Æduræ's Warmth

The farther a crystal elf gets from Æduræ, the weaker their bond to her becomes. This can result in fatigue, loss of innate magic, and even death if gone far enough/for too long. This is a major factor in the crystal elves' isolation ever since the Shattering. The only known way to counteract this is with a special token, usually a personal effect bestowed with a blessing given by one of Æduræ's Prism. They require a great deal of effort to make. Thus, they are extremely rare and only given out in extreme cases. For instance, Nerigwyn Xyrsandoral carried a token for her expedition into the mires of Argenveil.

Æduræ's Call

A crystal elf is never truly lost. All of Æduræ's creations have a sort of psychic connection to her, and feel a sort of pull towards her. It gets stronger the farther one strays and is considered a major reason that her people are so confined to the realm of Selvisprie. No matter where a syl'cryn finds themself, they will always know the way back home and be inclined to return. After Æduræ's fall, the call has been considered more of a warning than anything, since leaving the confines of Aedurae's grace often means losing yourself.
