Abyssal Plains
The abyssal plains lie at the bottom of the Torvalen Sea, extending north and south from the Mid-Torvalen Continental Rift. The plains are bordered by the continental slopes of the continents surrounding the vast sea. According to the ulan, this is a relatively flat landscape, marked by fields of volcanic vents, low volcanic mountains and rift valleys. Much of it lies within the demenses of the abyssal ulan queens. The abyssals, like most of the life forms in these dark depths, live clustered near the sparse hydrothermal vents dotting the plains like oases. Some adventurous scholars have been developing ways of plumbing its depths by developing underwater vehicles. There have been no successful attempts yet, but many unsuccessful ones in which there have been no survivors.
