Tukuoro

Tukuoro are those hakanu with the ability and duty to speak with the ancestor spirits, including the great spirits, the Koroua. Becoming a tukuoro is a calling, drawing from hakanu with a particular talent for seeing and hearing the spirits of the dead.

All hakanu can perceive and communicate with the recent dead, particularly those close to them in life, but few are able to perceive those who are long dead, much less communicate with them. Those with this talent are found young and if willing, trained to develop the talent to its full potential as well as learning the rituals and lore of the honored ancestors.
