The Old Moathouse
The origins of the Old Moathouse are not accurately recorded, although it certainly predates the hoard of Elemental. During the initial rise of Zuggtmoy in 553 CY, the Moathouse was overtaken from the Viscounty of Verbobonc's control and was used as a stronghold for the Horde of Elemental Evil. When the demoness' forces were defeated at the Battle of Emridy Meadows, the Old Moathouse largely was ignored and became a hive for wildlife and a shelter for bandits. In 591 CY, the Moathouse became the headquarters of Lareth the Beautiful's gang of bandits. They were forced out by adventurers and Lareth relocated his forces largely ot the nearby village of Nulb and a decrepit watchtower at the Temple complex.
In 602 CY, a group of adventurers returned to the Old Moathouse and discovered that cultists worshipping an entity known as the Elder Elemental Eye were plundering the Moathouse for relics in the name of their god. A contingent of gnolls were hired on to help and the cultists had dug through the stonework of the Moathouse's dungeon to unearth a large underground cavern. The adventurers discovered that this underground cavern was the source of several ancient weapons long forgotten and had the taint of an evil god that pervaded the entire location.
In 603 CY, a group of adventurers sponsored by the Matricular Deep deafeated two young black dragons, Dusktooth and Dusktalon, that laired in the tunnels below the Moathouse. While many participated in the effort to seal escape routes the four who confronted the dragons in the ruins of the Moathouse will be remembered as dragon slayers: Mona Leagrove, Peanutty Rhindhold, Bralnera Bouldergranite, and Caenithylin.
