Shatterguard
Overview:
The Shatterguards are a radical faction that broke off from the Kaedourian Repulic due to a relatively large amount of the population desiring to reaclaim lands that the Holy Dominion took possession of some three-hundred years ago during the War for Peace.Characteristics:
Most Shatterguard soliders wear tan leather armor with metal helms. They generally wield scimitars, spears, bows, mauls, and pikes. Shatterguards have a wide assortment of weapons since they do not produce many of their own weapons. All soldiers have the Shatterguard symbol either on their sheild, chest, or helms. The second teir of command traditionally has breast plates, longswords, and sheilds.Structure
All are equal in the in the Shatterguard, though those with more military experience lead and train the others in order to be the most effective military power possible.
Culture
The Shatterguard believe that the Holy Dominion has wronged them by possessing the lands that the Kaedourian forefathers handed over to the First Holy King. They are a zealous and ruthless people who are highly hostile to anyone who is a friend to the Holy Dominion.
Public Agenda
The Shatterguard is deadset on reclaiming Balitok's Wall and the lands to the west that once belonged to the Kaedourian people.
Assets
They have a city called Barkcroftis that resides near the coast of the Kaedourian sea on a large, rocky, butte that juts out of the surrounding dunes. They have access to an iron and gold mine under the city. They have numerous forts across the desert. They are supported by the Helavim Dwarves who want to see the Southern Dwarves suffer. Some of the Warchiefs of the Dronad Entete secretly send weapons to the Shatterguard along with some provisions.
Demography and Population
Many are halflings and humans, with some dwarves and a few elves here and there.
Territories
They forcefully took much of the Sands of Askostish from the Kaedour Republic.
They hold these lands tentatively and are constantly under threat from the Holy Dominion and the Kaedourian republic.
Military
Most of the people that are a part of the Shatterguard are armed and trained in combat to at least a novice level.
Foreign Relations
The Shatterguard is viewed as an embarrassment by the larger population of the Kaedourian Republic.
The Holy Dominion regards the Shatterguard as an annoying pest in the early days, quickly turning to holding the Shattergaurd as a serious threat to the Holy Dominion.
The Dronad Entente is split on their regards for the Shatterguard. About a third of the Warchiefs secretly send supplies to the Shatterguard
The Helavim openly support the Shatterguard.
