The Hands of Tiamat

The distinction between the cult, the church, and the hand of Tiamat is an important one as it can often reveal a person's view of the organization. One person referring to it as a cult likely condemns their beliefs and actions, while another calling it a church is likely to be ambivalent or wary. A town with a church of Tiamat most definitely keeps an eye on the group but will still allow them to peacefully worship as they like. Finally, anyone that declares the Hand of Tiamat is either an academic or a cultist themself.
In terms of structure, it's broken up into 5 sects, or "wings." Each is devoted to one of Tiamat's five heads: Black, blue, white, green, or red. Each has a following known as "The Hands," and each has a leader. This leader is often a female Dragonborn that bears an artifact from Tiamat's hoard. Namely, they don a Mask of Tiamat- a mask that can recreate one of her many breath attacks.
