Rhosavelle

"Rose's Valley City" City name translation from Rheya

Old capital of the Rhosaya Empire and, a city many ethnic Rhosayans believe to be the true capital of the now Rhosaya district. This southern most major city located on the Fayr strait is the central hub for Rhosayan culture.

Demographics

Most of the city is filled with ethnic Rhosayans who see the city as the beacon of Rhosayan culture. While there are other ethnic groups that live within the city, due to the open borders of the kingdom's districts, they are mostly treated as second class citizens within the city.

Percentages

  • 90% - Ethnic Rhosayan
  • 5% - Ethnic Primiean
  • 3% - Ethnic Dayne
  • 2% - Ethnic Lynuluan
  • Less 1% - Ethnic Atlan/Other

Government

The city, while under the rule of the Polaris family, still loosely holds onto its old republic style of government. With city officials still being voted in, as well as there being multiple senators that represent the city and its surrounding areas.

Defences

The city is protected by the feet of the Fayr mountains to the north and the miles of open ocean and Fayr strait to the south. It's only unprotected front would be to its east, with its beautiful, rose covered, rolling hills being a big tourist attraction.

Industry & Trade

Due to it's position of being the southern-most city of Rhydar, as well as being the only city located on the Fayr strait, the southern opening to the Pasmana sea, it is a major hub for the import and export of goods to Rhydar's southern and western most landmasses. The cities surrounding Rhosavelle are where a majority of its goods come from. With the five smaller cities/towns producing and manufacturing many goods, such as handcrafted weapons, household appliances, and other items that are all carefully crafted. This makes the ports of Rhosavelle hold some of the most valuable goods in all of Rhydar. Most of their imports include foods and spices that the valley area cannot grow on their own.

Infrastructure

The city, being the oldest still standing in Rhydar, can thank its long lasting foundation to the stone for which it was built on. Unsure of what material it is, most likely being created by the Rose Forebearers themselves, has keep this ancient city from crumbling to the group many centuries ago.

Assets

Rhosavelle streets
This tightly packed city is host to many small shops that line its thin streets, even blocking traffic from time to time throughout the busiest times of the day.

Guilds and Factions

The largest faction within the city is the Templars of Rhos. This rebellious group wishes to free the city from Atlan rule and create a free Rhosaya under the Temple of Rhos.

History

Said to be a major settlement for the Rose Forebearers, this was a major defensive location for them throughout much of the Forebearer war. With its many natural barriers it was a great place to be the center for the then protectors of Rhydar. Though many people who study Forebearer history do not believe Rhosavelle was the main hub for the Rose Forebearers. That would belong to the city of Hana that sit's just ten miles north. With Hana's large 50 foot walls, built from the same material used for the foundation of Rhosavelle, said to be used as building material for a Rhydan city that was being built just south. This would explain the strange deterioration of Hana's walls, that sit about half as tall now, as well as explain why Rhosavelle, being such an open location, would be used as a main base of operations. With Hana being located in a small pocket of forest that makes it difficult to see for incoming invaders. It is still a hot topic of debate, with many people believing Rhosavelle to be the city, and many believing Hana, meaning "Her Land" in Rheya, to be her true land.
