Black Queen

Net the Dog Sledder, on the Castle of the Black Queen:   "It’s not pleasant. Safe, and comfortable, yes, but it’s almost like the air is full of static. Tense, and charged. They are pretty Dulcerian- Ah, you don’t, sorry. Dulcerian… that’s what we call elves who still think like Prince Dulceria. She ruled the court of The Winter before Aurelia. They are really self-serving, and although they deny it, they really don’t seem to realise other people have feelings or needs or wants...

...I think it’s called passive aggressive? Using carefully arranged words to make you feel bad about yourself, and more likely to do what they want. But taken on their own there isn’t really anything wrong with what they say. Its frustrating and exhausting, even if you aren’t fighting off being taken as a pet.”     The Black Queen is the Ruler of the military like black castle of which she is the namesake. Born to parents obssessed with Royalty she was raised as a Princess, and encouraged to lead others with an assetive manner. She now rules a mini-court within The Court of Aurelia with a group of mostly older elves who live in her castle. A bloody and frightning reputation acompanies her, telling of the Black Queen as a ruthless individual who does not tolerate those who stand in her way.

Early Life

Born on the Southern slopes of the Ogre Mountains, The Black Queen was the only child of two elves created directly by King Mercury's mantle. She has been described as a bold child, driven by materialistic reward and with high expectations. Her parents raised her as a Princess, and she was tutored in the way of leadership and confidence.

Coming of Age

Growing board of the contant and repeating ogre battles, the Black Queen's family moved South, first to the modest BallHall towards the courts border, but then further south to the Petrified Forest, where a large complex had been built of similarly minded elves with a fascination with royalty, known as Highgrove Park, which now exists as a dance school. Her education here was undertaken with others for the first time, including The White Queen, who she is often compared to.   Her education allowed the Black Queen to flourish in many areas that she enjoyed, including dance, archery, public speaking, and leadership.   While she struggled to befriend, the Black Queen was able to gain influence over many of her peers and elders at Highgrove Park, however she still felt that unfair praise was given to The White Queen. This led to a strong rivalry between the two, and on the Black Queen's side, a strong dislike.   The Black Queen also struggled with a particular peer, a slightly older male elf known as Lord Viola. With similar levels of ambition and assertiveness, the two naturally clashed, and Lord Viola would often use physical force to get his way. Consistantly loosing in her clashes with the Lord, the Black Queen was eventually humiliated to such a degree that it caused her to vow a violent and long vengance against him. Following an archery display set upn in her own honour, Lord Viola attacked and paralysed the Black Queen, and stuffed her inside one of the archery targets. When her guests arrived, they found her absence displeasing, and proceeded to share their distaste of their host. After giving up waiting, the archery proceeded, until, at the end, the target fell apart through arrow damage, revealling the now bleeding body of the Queen.     This time of the Black Queen's life is preserved in The Black Queen’s Steps a journey that takes pilgrims through The Court of Aurelia to the locations that were significant to the Queen's early life.
