The Kingdom of Rhye was a kingdom of art, beauty, and enjoyment created by a field of magic granted to the 'Fairy King'. Around 50 years ago, the Kingdom fell, turning to ash as there was no longer enough magic left to sustain it, wiping out the long eared Rhye elves who lives there, and all the fantastical places they made. The last monarch, King Havok, along with 3 others, survived, being picked up by a mysterious train which took them to a nearby cliff side called 'The Survivors Plane'. Surveying the ruin of his Kingdom, King Havok hatches a plan.
He reaches out, sending the train to Eldoria, where the World Serpent Guild takes notice. Adventurers take the train, and meet with the fairy king. His plan is to send them back in time, using a curious relic called 'the lens of today', which allows the train to travel back 40 years, to the first decade of King Havoks Reign. From there, the guild will tackle various problems across the kingdom to prevent the magic from leaking away, and reverse the catastrophe that caused an entire continent to collapse.
The continent of Rhye is found in the outer planes, and as such it has different characteristics of magic in addition to those that the guild are familiar with. The natives, Rhye elves, are equally unique and their magics and inventions contain marvels found only in the kingdom. Everything, including the very ground, is formed from the magic gifted to the first fairy king, King Mercury, which moved to King Havok after the first king passed away.
From speaking with the youthful white haired king, the guild understand that Havok believes the reason the magic leaked away was because he did not respond appropriately to changes occuring in the kingdom. Instead of being his own king, he merely tried to preserve the laws and magics of the previous king. However, in his contemplation from the cliffs of survivors plain, he knows now that he should have made the kingdom his own.
