Dren
The doors grind open, their wails resounding across the open valley. The city springs to life, hundreds of buildings move on treads into place, cogs turing and shards pulsing, moving to form zones and sectors. The city's buildings move about splitting itself into multiple layers. And then, suddenly there is a silence and all movement stops. With a roar, the grids connect the lamps upon the streets, causing them to sputter to life as the arcane power from the shard generators is drawn in by the crystals. The masses of dwarves spill out into the streets and through the city. Lifters move between the floors, their great gears clanking upon their threads.Within them small settlements subside, the residents operating the large structure.
As midday arrives there is a cry from the lowest level of the city, the Elevator has arrived. A monster of twisted and battered steel and shard that runs up and down the Pit to Undren and the mines. Hundreds of shards are fed its great engines to keep it moving up and down it's path, the power coursing through it's fitted shards, flickering and flashing through them like stars. The gates of the Elevator open and people begin to embark and disembark.
As the hours tick by each hour is annouced by the rumble of the buildings starting to move to new locations. These buildings head into the city's docks were the buildings are stored when they are not in use or when they are being repaired or serviced. The docks are a filled with large pilllars that contain moving platforms that allow them to reach different parts of the buildings to modify the runework. Further into the docks there are buildings being constucted, their frames being pulled from their molds from the great forges.
The Zerilikan Forges are a set of massive shard powered forges that process the metals dug from the mines. There a series of different molds that are used for different purposes which are moved into place with large mechanical arms from a storage system of different molds.
The Torien Mines are the lifeblood of Dren, packed full of pure crystals of Arcane, countless ores of different metals and numerous otehr gemstones. These minerals go into the constuction and the enrichment of the city. The shards used to power the numerous contraptions that the dwarves use and are should to mages and artisans to power spells or to make powerful magical items.
The city is orgainsed into 5 different levels. The first level is used for residents of the city and most buildings do not move from their places, the only occations where they move are to move to a richer zone of the residential area. The second level is used for govenment buildings, the docks and forges. These often move about to make space for cerimonial buildings that are rarely used or for different molds and forges to move into a sequence for fast production. The thrid level is the merchants level, this si where teh mercahnts sell their wares in their stores and shops. They move about very often as they pay the govenment for their spots in the grid and need to pay based on their locations. The 4th level is used mainly for visitors and for lesiure. here there are the more fancy inns and taverns.
There are a couple notable businesses and establishments in Dren. These are the Sivlered Cup, The Rusty Cog and The Gilded Horn. These inns sell some of the best ale in the city. As for armour and gear, the Trusty Blade, Tormain's Hearth, and Jurdun & Sons.

Any who try to by pass the door will find themselves traped with the enemy and with no escape.
Infrastructure
The water and sewage are handled by pipes that run through the plates that the buildings are built on. These pipes all have special valves taht only allow water and sewage to move if there is a connection to another pipe.

There are seven clans. All of which originate from the seven families that first made Dren their home. Each clan is know for different things but they have all helped the city to reach its maginificent state. The clans are as follows, Braken, Helda, Dor, Jurn, Yrut, Zalr and Ort.
History
The city used to be an mining outpost of the main dwarven city and a way for the dwarven to easily trade with the humans for their goods. The outpost grew over time with the wealth that the trade was bringing to it and soon, a major discovery was made in the city. Runework was discovered as a way to activate Shards to effect the world without a magical caster using them. this opended up a lot of possiblities and there was a race to create new inventions with this new way to controll magic. However, earlier rune work was unrefined and needed to be built on a massive scale to have any effect on the physical realm. This resulted in it being only sued for massive machines and magical items, like the doors to the city.
Architecture
The buildings are all blocky and most of them look very similar as most of them have built from the same frames, with their walls just built into the template.
Natural Resources
There are great amounts of ore and minerals located under the city and is the city'smain sourec of income.
