Mermaids
Genetic ancestors to aquatics, mermaids have become very rare as the years have gone on.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Mermaids are hips up humanoid, but hips down fish. Mermaids cannot have separate legs, as a humanoid amphibious creature with legs is an aquatic.
Genetics and Reproduction
Mermaids lay eggs, and is (as of now) the only non mammalian playable species other than robotics.
Ecology and Habitats
While mermaids are capable of breathing both in the water and on land, very few mermaids opt to live on the land due to inaccessibility. Also unlike aquatics, mermaids require time in water, as they begin to dry out without it. It is theoretically possible for a mermaid to live their life entirely on land, given they have the right accessibility aids and a bathtub.
Still, because of the difficulties posed by living on land, the majority of mermaid live the majority if not their entire life in the water. Mermaids can be found is most large bodies of water, but appear in particularly high volume in oceans.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Mermaids are carnivores, and cannot digest plant matter.
