Northern barbarians of
The Jagged Peaks.
Society and Hierarchy
The Feral are not just a chaotic horde; they have a strict hierarchy that revolves around strength and combat prowess. Their leader, known as the War-Master, is the fiercest of all, chosen through brutal trials by combat. Below the War-Master are the Blood Chiefs, leaders of individual warbands, each vying for favor and power.
Culture and Beliefs
The Feral worship the primal forces of nature, personified in their pantheon of savage deities. They believe in the Spirit of the Hunt and the Mother of Storms, who bless their warriors with ferocity and resilience. Their shamans, known as Stormcallers, are said to control the weather, calling forth blizzards or thunderstorms to disorient their enemies.
Warfare and Berserkers
In battle, the Feral are terrifying. They employ hit-and-run tactics, using the jagged terrain to their advantage. Their berserkers, known as the Rageborn, are the heart of their warbands. Before battle, these warriors enter a trance-like state, consuming potent brews and invoking their gods to grant them unmatched strength and endurance.
Lifestyle and Survival
Life in the Jagged Peaks is harsh, and the Feral are hardened by it. They are skilled hunters and trappers, using every part of their prey. Their settlements are temporary, often moving with the herds they hunt. They value strength and survival above all, and their rites of passage for the young are grueling tests of endurance and combat.
Relations with Outsiders
The Feral are isolationists by nature, but they have been known to trade with the
Albioners to the south and the
Honshu to the north. However, they are distrustful of magic-users, whom they see as manipulators of unnatural forces. Any outsider wishing to interact with the Feral must prove their strength and value, or face being treated as prey.
Appearance and Attire
Visually, the Feral are striking. They wear armor crafted from the bones and hides of the mountain beasts they slay, often adorned with symbols of their gods. Their warriors paint their faces with blood and ash before battle, creating fearsome visages to intimidate their foes.
