Session 8
General Summary
Stepping through the misty portal at the top of Callindrill's Tower the party found themselves in a
circular room. This had a note glowing in eldritch runes in the air, telling them they had entered
Callindrill's Dungeon.
They moved cautiously through the dungeon, encountering and defeating many constructs,
including animating panthers and minotaur statues. Eventually they reached a large oddly shaped
chamber. Opening the door they saw a collection of broken weapons and shards of metal on the
floor in the centre. Traubon stepped cautiously into the room, the rest of his companions some
distance behind him. Suddenly the shards of metal began to whirl, picking up speed and slicing
through the air towards the surprised dwarf. Before Traubon could even take a step back the
whirling vortex of air and metal had approached him, engulfed him, moved right through him and
ripped him to pieces, leaving no trace of the dwarf save a shredded, bloody mess on the floor.
Traubon was no more.
The rest of the party charged the enchanted thing and fought a brief and bloody battle, coming
very close to all dying, but defeating the construct and returning it to battered nothingness.
Traubon's body was buried in the dungeon where he fell and Lady Fortuna performed a ritual to
send his soul to the heavens.
The party continued on for a little while more, eventually finding a corridor lined with mirrors. At
the end of this corridor was a door with a rune cut into it - a ten inch diameter circle full of runes,
which looked like it could have something placed into it. They were unable to open the door no
matter how they tried.
Next they found a room with a raised dias on it which had 10 giant iron statues in it of warriors
with swords. Kai ran into the room, sumersaulted and grabbed a small triangular medalion piece
from the top of the dias. As he did so a massive fireball went off in his location and one of the
statues animated, moving to block his way out. Unpeterbed, Kai nimbly tucked and rolled under
the massive statue's legs and back into the corridor. The rest of the party attacked. The golem
almost killed Fortuna with a great blow of his huge sword but was eventually put down by Tor and
Flek's combined power. At this stage the group retreated and decided they needed the help of a
mage to deal with a mage's dungeon so they used the last charm on their bracelet of friends to
summon Arundel, son of Caladon, the elven high mage. Arundel was a sorcerer of great renown.
Moving further through the dungeon of Callindrill the group located four of these triangle
medalions, guarded by various guardians. The four pieces snapped together to produce a ten inch
circlular medalion which they were able to determine was exactly the same as the indentation they
had seen on a door earlier in the dungeon. They went back there and placed the fully formed
medalion into the indentation. The door opened.
Beyond was a large room smelling of sulphur and brimstone. Inside were 3 robed men. The
moment they were seen two disappeared and the third attacked. They revealed their true nature as
demons as they summoned 6 smaller demons to the fight! The battle was short and bloody with
arrows, lightning and the holy power of Pelor manifesting itself all over the huge room. Soon all
three demons and their summoned minions were slaughted.
Inside the room the party discovered a palm sized, seven sided box which opened up to reveal a
seven sided key: the Key of Seven Stars.
Inside the key was a note from Titus telling the group that the Book of Vitiris was to be located in
the Hall of Dragons. Where that lay was unknown to the party. The Key enabled them to teleport
which they did returning to the entrance to the Tomb of Callindrilll where there horses remained.
Here they found the enigmatic Myrddin, petting Blade and waiting for the group's return.
Questioning Myrddin about the Hall of Dragons was not hugely successful. He told them that it
was a legendary place that dragon's hearts were taken when they died so they could be laid to final
rest. No mortals were allowed into the Hall without a dragon's heart. And no mortal knew of the
location of the Hall of Dragons. The party knew that they could summon an Astra Deva once per
week on Snudays using the Key of Seven Stars so they decided to do that to see what it could tell
them. They summoned Dendorandra and asked her about the Hall of Dragons. She told them she
believed it lay north of The Jagged Peaks and confirmed Myrddin's comments about no mortals
being able to enter there without a dragon's heart.
The party decided to head north and talk to the only creature they could imagine would know for
certain - Ashardalon, the great dragon. And if he wasn't helpful, they might have to kill him and
take his heart to the Hall...
