Session XVIII: If I were a needle, where in this Haystack would I hide? - Report

General Summary

The team set out for the surface of Damaris in their newly acquired Valkyrie Sky Talon. The large ship moved gracefully among and through the random bit of debris that had settled into orbit around the large agriworld that had recently come under Ork assault. Bjorn navigated to the docks at Damaris city after having a quick back and forth with the control tower down on the surface. When they landed smoothly in a domed port a functionary was waiting for them to collect the docking fees. As the big Ork stepped out onto the loamy soil of this highly fertile planet the shabby cloaked functionary gave a start and made assertions to the Ork not being welcome on this world. When asked if anything could be done the man gave a wry grin and informed them of a "special" bracelet that the Ork could wear which would designate him a "good xeno".   Despite the clearly racist and likely false premise of this band's validity Bjorn paid the dock functionary the necessary thrones. The man made himself scarce quickly. Rasp was outspoken and against paying the man and vowed vengeance.    The team split up with Rasp heading off on his own and Isaac leading the rest of the group to the navigator's guild. Rasp sought and audience with the Fabricator Locum and was asked to wait which he willingly did formulating his devious plan more completely.    At the Navis Nobilite Isaac was treated well as a member and everyone else was largely ignored by the psykers there. Bjorn was minorly annoyed by the indignance he was shown but Isaac was able to get relevant information after a couple of quick conversations. The team minus Rasp then headed to their next destination to procure a vehicle.   During this time Rasp was finally able to meet with the disembodied head that is the Fabricator Locum of Damaris. The whirring and clicking of tiny gears and ancient hard drives could be heard as the two machine-riddled men discussed in binary speech. In the end the dock functionary was likely being hunted by the Mechanicus and Rasp had given over rights to the Polyhedron from Illisk to the mechanicus. He then moved on to meet up with his 'friends' from the crew.   Upon hearing of his insubordination Bjorn was incensed and most of the crew minus the ever friendly Stig was leaning towards just offing the Tech-Priest. In the end cooler heads prevailed when a plan was formulated to deceive the Mechanicus coming to collect the Polyhedron. Poly, as Stig demanded it be called.   Upon playing out their deception Bjorn gave Rasp a stern warning but overall no last consequences would be doled out that day. Finding their way to the machine garages that the local PDF used to repair and refit their war machines before sending them back to the front a potentially violent confrontation played out. As it turns out the wrist band that Murk was given did not in fact declare him a "good xeno" it didn't actually mean anything and the battle hardened mechanics of the PDF were not happy to see an Ork behind their lines, walking around care free.   Stig tried to bluff them into believing he was in fact an agent of the inquisition and showed them a rosette of some inquisitor no one had ever heard of. How Stig had one is anybody's guess but the platoon didn't fall for it. They pulled their weapons on the Ork. Ani had to eventually step in and steer the platoon Lieutenant away from murdering the large green fungoid. Influencing his mind, the Lieutenant ordered his men to lower their weapons for the time being. Isaac was struck with an intense vision of where the spear of Khaine was and of the coming destruction.    This spurred Bjorn on to saying fuck it to the vehicle here and asked if Rasp could get a damaged vehicle in the field running. Happy to restore a machine to it's holy intended use and earn some brownie points with his captain again the Red priest quickly gave an affirmative. Bjorn made the executive decision to load the Valkyrie once again and head to the front to brave the warzone in an effort to beat the oncoming hordes to the temple of St. Drusus to retrieve the Spear before all the others. The team departed immediately for parts unknown.
