Session XXVII: Take the shot! - Report

General Summary

Murk leveled the guns of the ancient ship at the Crew's aggressor and Fired. After the shot seemed to hang frozen in time for what seemed forever the tell tale plume of fire lancing out into the darkness heralded success. The enemy ship strained and groaned under the new damage, bulkheads buckling and sections full of crew venting into space. It seemed like it was all over but the crying for Hadarak and his misguided attempt to steal from Captain Felrider and his trusty crew.   Speaking of trusty, inside the Perdition, trust was in short supply. The hunt for Eve was on and, under Rasp's withering surveillance, closing in fast on her hiding position. Some bargain had been struck and Bjorn seemed to be handing over more and more control over what happened on his ship to the xenophobic machine priest. A paranoid person would suggest some unsanctioned surgery on the Captain's brain or nanobots controlling him from the inside, powerless to stop the bigoted cultist from exacting his personal fears upon all demi-humans.   In any case with the help of Isaac, Eve was found and Rasp once again acted without orders to vent the vents aboard the perdition, taking a calculated risk to kill Eve and recover his precious STC while potentially damaging that section of the ship. Action taken without order, once again condoned without issue from the Captain.   During the retrieval process Stig was directed to the vent that housed Eve or what was left of her after being exposed to vacuum unceremoniously. He was simply told to get her out so he directed his men to cut into the vent where she was, not knowing or not understanding the effect that the vent was still exposed to space. The men got to work and once the welding torch cut through to the vent alarms started blaring and bulkheads began to seal as a safety precaution to keep the ship from venting it's air completely.   Rasp stepped in and directed Stig and voidsmen to patch the breach after he resealed the vents so that Eve could be retrieved. The seemingly young woman's limp body was gingerly plucked from her hiding hole by Stig who identified her as alive much to the Tech-Priest's chagrin. Stig delivered the Eldar to her quarters/cell as opposed to bringing her to the medbay where Ani was sure that some medical "mistake" would take place and Eve would slip away into oblivion. Stig then stood guard outside to ensure there was no funny business.   Back to the action outside the Perdition, the enemy ship had been left floating, largely defenseless now and badly damaged. Bjorn had a plan to refill his crew and help pilot the newly acquired frigate "The Righteous Path". He voxed over to Hadarak's vessel and raised com. officer Joe who heard Bjorn's offer and said he would bring it to Captain Hadarak, who was apparently still alive after the fighting. Hadarak overheard the tone an tenor of the conversation happening with his enemy and shot the young officer in the head. Hadarak then made a threat to Bjorn and cut the vox.   Undeterred, Bjorn pulled up along side the decrepit vessel and used micro-bead communication directly with the crew giving them the option to mutiny and save their lives and have employment working for him or die a slow and likely painful death, starving in the icy void of nothingness they now found themselves drifting in.   No response was given and the waiting commenced. Eventually the few functioning guns re-aimed and fired directly below them in a display that was puzzling to those aboard the perdition. Isaac reached out with his mind while Bjorn and Rasp reached out with the sensors into the void, looking for threats of anomalies in the darkness below the galactic plane. Isaac felt something out there, an unknowable xeno mind that naturally obfuscated itself without effort but the intent he felt momentarily was not malign so he relayed that information. Digesting that Bjorn decided that the crew was trying to communicate non-verbally across the expanse between the ships. The wait continued until finally a huge explosion rocked the other ship, clearly something had exploded inside. As the wait continued it became more and more clear that a mutiny was taking place. Eventually the entire ship was retaken except for the auxiliary bridge where the captain and the few loyal crew he had remaining had holed up.   Satisfied that his plan had worked Bjorn then made preparations to bring the new crew aboard or transport them to "The Righteous path". A vetting process was adopted and the new crew collected. Those that didn't pass muster where placed in the Perdition's brig. The enemy vessel, now largely empty, was left to drift their future survival unlikely.   Eve was not cooperating or she was telling the truth that she didn't know where the STC had disappeared to but Bjorn's fuse was dangerously thin. He flirted with the idea of murdering the battered woman or turning her over to the Mechanicus for them to work their tender ministrations upon her flawless skin. Eventually Ani was told to take Eve with her to the other ship which she did as instructed. Was she being punished for something also? The captain seemed incredibly brusk with his first mate/XO of his now growing fleet.   The two ships plotted a course to Rittammeron and moved on to the place where Stig had received his vision. What waited for them was not encouraging. The planet had once been a thriving and wild place, full of jungles and mountain peaks but even from space the crew could see that the surface of the planet was undergoing change. A strange robotic plague had descended on the planet and was disintegrating it's living organisms with impunity. Something should be done... Shouldn't it? Find out next time.
