The King of Jiaohai maintains a large harem, but only the Imperial Consorts hold a military rank, as well as the responsibility to protect the King at all costs.
The total number is a well kept secret, but it is assumed he has at least 20 consorts at his beck and call. Usually, he can be seen with anywhere from two to nine consorts attending to him.

Equipment

Trained in the use of all weapon types, including secret firearm technology, these elite bodyguards can face nearly any challenge.
Though unarmored, they are all incredibly durable by design.

Weaponry

Most Imperial Consorts are given a firearm as well as a retractable arm-blade. Some choose to wield additional weaponry.

Vehicles

Unless the king is mounted, the consorts are not mounted. Unlike the non-warrior members of the king's harem, the Imperial Consorts from time to time will carry the king on a large sedan.

Structure

Each consort has the ability to operate outside of Jiaohai's laws, and answers only to the king.

Upkeep

The Imperial Consorts are constructs. They do not require sleep, air to breathe, or food to eat.

Recruitment

Unlike other members of the king's harem, members of the Imperial Consorts are not recruited. The original consorts were crafted long ago by mysterious folks. How the king gained their loyalty is unknown. Though the consorts are constructs, they express free-will and independent spirits.
All the consorts are visualy indistinguishable from each other, except to those who know them personally and well enough to discern the slight differences in personality or tone.
