Vishravas Character in Rolara | World Anvil

Vishravas

Vishravas, a deity embodying the essence of cosmic genesis, shattered into 27 shards during the creation of the universe, seeding it with divine magic. The shards of Vishravas, each representing a fragment of the deity's power, govern the aspects of creation, destruction, and rebirth.   While nine of the shards ascended to the Deva Realm, forming the nine terraced gardens where Immortals walk and pure souls enjoy their eternal bliss, nine other shards descended into the Hell Realms, each giving form to the layers of Hell including Baator and the Abyss. The remaining nine shards, known as the Stars of Power, fell into the Mortal Realm, embedding themselves into Rolara and influencing its geography, weather, and inhabitants.   In the realm of Asura, the demi-gods, their existence is also influenced by the residual energy of Vishravas' shards. They use this energy to exert their influence over the Mortal Realm, often creating conflict and chaos. The Animal Realm, despite its name encompassing much of the natural world, including most plants and fungi, is also subtly influenced by the Stars of Power, leading to the emergence of fantastic beasts and magical phenomena.   The Hungry Ghost Realm, where ancestors rest in the shadows, is perhaps the most affected by Vishravas' absence. It is said that the spirits here yearn for the wholeness of Vishravas, their desire manifesting as an eerie longing that pervades the realm.   In Videha, Vishravas is worshipped along with Ajastra, Mahadeva, and Dharmeshvari. The people of Videha practice Shard Meditation, channeling the residual energy from the Stars of Power through meditation and prayer. The rituals often involve miniature replicas of the Stars of Power, crafted from precious gemstones.   The Tale of Creation, recounting Vishravas' self-shattering to bring forth life, is well-known. However, the absence of Vishravas has led to a cosmic imbalance. Some believe that the chaotic nature of the wilderness, the ferocity of the monsters, and the unpredictability of magic are all results of this imbalance. This belief has led to the Great Reunion, a quest to reassemble Vishravas and restore cosmic balance.
