The Cardinal Wars were a series of conflicts that took place in the land of Rondo, with the north and south pitted against each other while the east and west remained neutral. These wars were marked by intense fighting and widespread devastation, with many lives lost and entire communities destroyed.

These wars were marked by intense fighting and widespread devastation, with many lives lost and entire communities destroyed.   During the Cardinal Wars, the mysterious disease known as the Spitting Plague was discovered. This bacterial infection affected mages, clerics, and druids, feeding on their magical energies and eventually claiming their lives if not treated. The disease was resistant to most forms of magical healing and defense, but there were some herbal remedies that seemed to be effective in combating it.   The Cardinal Wars also saw the discovery of a substance called "Phez Follas," which was created through a mutation of the Spitting Plague bacteria. This substance was able to remove the magic from an item if it was fully submerged in it for up to seven days. The magical energy removed from the item settled at the bottom in liquid form, which was dubbed "Ambrosia" by scholars, but had little practical use.   The Cardinal Wars had a lasting impact on Rondo, with many communities and individuals still feeling the effects of the conflict and the Spitting Plague to this day.
