The Book of Canticles of the Holy Architect and The Lady (The Vulsrian Bible)
Verodaius 1:1 --And as he ascended to the Marble City of our Architect, he held his grief in his hand and his deceit in the other. Xidon, our Architect, would grant him passage, unknowingly a traitor in his skin. Ajeton, his brother, would taint his city red with the blood on his hands. "Forever thou shalt know it, now, whoever doth ascend to my Red City shall witness its bloody halls and cathedra of the evil stuck in the shadows of man." Verodaius 1:2 --For they did ascend to the god, hand in hand and woven as one. As their bodies tied in matrimony, so were their souls, glossed and protected from the evils of sin. Their eternal faithfulness will and shall grant them passage to the Red City of our Architect so that there they will forever know that the deceit of man taints one forever. Verodaius 1:3 --Our Architect will punish those who sin, and enter their souls into the Red Hall should their evil surpass their faith. Those who follow Ajeton and his turpitude will forever roam the halls of mercilessness and pain. Verodaius 1:4 --The Architect who gave man blood bestowed upon him envy, hate and regret to keep his soul bound to Th’ realm; for he who ascends to the skies and is tainted shall blacken the heavens for all. The ones who breathed the air of injustice have soaked our earthen graves with certain unending punishment --The First Written Work
Excerpts of the first canticle were copied into other books. Hypothetically, over centuries of rewritten works, it is unclear if the so-called ‘original’ words have been copied correctly. Or, therefore, if the canticles we read now are even accurate. However, it is stated that the original copy, created by Verodaius himself, still exists someplace within Dolcima City’s vaults. It has yet to be proven, and the Emperor will not permit any historians to search for it – let alone anyone else. --Sinon Patras, Researcher for the School of History in Veregraf of the Province of Raxis
