The Drought of Jedes
The Drought of Jedes was a fifteen year long disaster from 1545 - 1560. The prophets in Jedes believed that the first year without rain signaled distress among the gods and predicted a great sin had been committed. During these years Jedes and some portions of Raxis experienced high tensions, death and sickness. Loss of economic stability and job losses caused many southern locals to panic, offering everything from possessions to their children to appease the gods and deliver rain. There was much stress on the government in Jedes as people demanded to be supplied the proper water to sustain life. Hundreds of wells were built and new jobs were created for people to transport water from other towns and nearby counties, but it wasn't enough to help reverse the effects of all the sudden death.
Jedes lost much of it's wealth importing more food, water, supplies and animals to sustain human life during these years. After almost two decades, the first moisture broke from the east bringing a heavy rainstorm that lasted one week. Jedes was able to rejoice and begin to rebuild but it took a lot of loans from the highest government in order to re-establish farms and abandoned settlements. Hundreds of soldiers and their families were forced to permanently relocate to the south to help the rebuild. The rebuild is considered ongoing, as there are still a few small settlements in Jedes that are abandoned and empty, now, grown over - a reminder of the power of the gods. Many of the people who used to live in those towns moved north and northwest to more forested areas for a higher, cooler climate.
Manifestation
Jedes had realized a slow rise in summer temperatures and a decrease in seasonal moisture. It was blamed on the sins of man and many sacrifices were made to end the drought. Including human life. No one is certain that the offerings pleased the gods and ended the drought, or if it ended naturally.
Localization
Raxis and Jedes are the warmest countries of Vulsria, so they are more susceptible of seasons without rain, but never for as long as the Drought of Jedes.
