Chiefly of these, the Arcane Tempests, which are winds of magical energy, have been known to empower and drive inexperienced magic users to madness, causing them to turn into warped ones or lose control of their magic, leading to widespread destruction and massacres.
The Arcane Tempests are a phenomenon that occur near new landmasses that were brought to Runetalras during the Crystalline Convergence. They are winds of magical energy that have been known to empower and drive inexperienced magic users to lose control of their magic or madness, and also cause creatures to turn into warped ones. The Tempests have led to widespread destruction and massacres.
They manifest as powerful storms which burnaway flesh with force energy, they are often accompanied by dangerous magical anomalies such as sudden portals, unstable magical energy fields, and the spontaneous manifestation of Weave Aberrations. These tempests are unpredictable and can strike at any time, making them a constant threat. They can also be harnessed by powerful mages for their own purposes, but this is a dangerous and uncertain prospect.
The tempests can be incredibly destructive, levelling entire towns and villages, and causing widespread destruction and loss of life. They also present a significant hazard to ships and boats, making travel and trade difficult and dangerous.
