The Eternal Flame

The Eternal Flame, which sits within the Holy Church of the Eternal Flame, is a massive structure, built with intricate detail and ornate decoration. The walls and columns are adorned with symbols and frescoes of the Radiant Lady, the deity worshipped by the followers of the Holy Church of the Eternal Flame. The Holy Church is said to be a beacon of hope, light and life, and a symbol of the Radiant Lady's love and protection over her followers. The Eternal Flame, is the centrepiece and most important part of the Holy Church; the Eternal Flame is a brazier made of gold and Dimeritium and is 30 feet in diameter. The Eternal Flame itself cracks with flames of crimson, white, orange, yellow, and even a few flames of black. The Eternal Flame, and indeed the Holy Church of the Eternal Flame, were discovered in the Age of Contact by a group of humans and the Eternal Flame was burning when the humans discovered it and has burned unhindered for thousands of years since. The Eternal Flame, and hence the Holy Church, are considered the most holy sight in the faith of the Radiant Lady, this includes the Ebon Flame, Crimson Flame, Eternal Flame, and Union of Flames. Many pilgrims make the journey to the Radiant Temple to offer their prayers, light candles and receive blessings from the priests of the Holy Church.
At the centre of the Eternal Flame rests the legendary sword Lightbringer, a holy relic of the faith of the Radiant Lady. A person chosen by the Radiant Lady is able to enter and pull it from the flames, as 11 have done so in the past, the unworthy are horrifically or mortally burnt.
Despite its importance and popularity, the origins and original purpose of the Eternal Flame and the Holy Church remain a mystery, shrouded in the mists of time and forgotten history. It is also curious and unknown how no other race discovered the Eternal Flame in the countless millennium before the Age of Contact, as neither the Eternal Flame or Holy Church appear in the records of any known kingdom or race.
