Gotyik's Letter to his brother Hans
My dear half-brother Hans,
How is everything going for you? Lina and I arrived in Ketterzan safely and you will see from Tatyana Tolstaya's report that we are making good progress in our efforts to convert the small villages to the Church of the White God.
Admittedly, the Dragoon Village I told you about in my last letter was very inhospitable and chased us out with their surprisingly advanced weaponry. However, the village of Ketterpesh has been considerably more successful. We already have one convert: a woodcutter named Vasilly who lives in a hut with a witch and a goblin.
Belabog granted us the Dola to encounter a band of Cossacks, who have taken a copy of our scriptures back to their people. In entirely unrelated news, please arrange for a new carriage to be sent to us, as the old one was lost in Mishkinary business.
I anticipate that you will be delighted to hear that we are now bound for Ketterburg. Our new mishkinary convert, Vasilly, has offered to stay behind and spread our message among the Ketterpesh villagers, allowing us to travel onwards to influence more heathens. Maybe we will have the chance to meet you in the Capital?
I send this letter from the village before we leave for the big town. I hope it arrives safely and eagerly await your responses, which so far have not reached me on the road. Please give my love to Kasha and tell her how much I miss her.
