Samovila of the Glittering Valley

The Samovila of the Glittering Valley is an angry, intolerant creature at the best of times, but once she had been Touched by Winter, she became even more dangerous. She was the first Spirits that Baboushka, the wise Healer Witch, was able to "cure" from the curse. She now rests placidly, but unemerging, in the Well Spring. Perhaps she is healing, perhaps she is unable to fully manifest.

Personal history

After being afflicted by the Touch of Winter, the Samovila terrorised the Glittering Valley. She scared away most creatures that entered the place and attacked everyone who wasn't themselves a Spirit of the Old Beliefs.   She met her match against the wise witch Baboushka who, with the help of her adopted grandchildren Vasilly the Woodcutter, and Bogdan the Animal Charmer, managed to subdue her. With the assistance of their spirit friends, Baboushka used her healing magic and skills to cut the Samovila open and remove the icecrystal that was forming around her heart.   The surgery was a lot for the Samovila to sustain, and she began to fade away even as Vasilly carried her towards the Well Spring. She briefly resolidified as her unconscious (but living) form was lowered into the water. As the heroes watched on, the Samovila merged with her well, unable or unwilling to remain physically part of the mortal realm while she recovered from the surgical trauma.

Under the effects of the Touch of Winter, the Samovila of the Glittering Valley had one goal - to wipe out anyone who wasn't a Spirit of the Old Beliefs. Now that she has been healed by Baboushka, she recovers in the Well Spring, hidden from the mortal world.

A fast-moving wave batters all creatures in its path, leaving the target area flooded. Each creature in the area must succeed at a Reflex save or take 1d6 points of bludgeoning damage.
In addition, the affected area becomes shallow bog terrain (costing 2 squares of movement to move 1 square, and raising Acrobatics and Stealth DC by 2) that affects everyone except the Samovilla. If a square is affected by a second wave, it becomes deep bog terrain (costing Medium or Large creatures 4 squares of movement to move 1 square (Small or smaller creatures must swim), and raising Acrobatics and Stealth DC by 2).
Note: The water in a deep bog provides cover for Medium or larger creatures. Smaller creatures gain improved cover (+8 bonus to AC, +4 bonus on Reflex saves). Medium or larger creatures can crouch as a move action to gain this improved cover. Creatures with this improved cover take a –10 penalty on attacks against creatures that aren’t underwater.
