The Goblin Clearances

Cultural Reception

Amongst Goblins, the stories of the Clearances are common knowledge, told through oral tradition to the younger generations as historical fact. However, other species have varying sympathy and knowledge of the events.
Detractors
Elves and Humans have a vested interest in keeping the history of the Goblin Clearances under wraps, since they were the main aggressors in the events. They tell folk stories of Goblin raids and trickery to ensure that Goblins continue to be mistrusted among the populace. Since Goblins do not normally write their history down, it is easy for it to be obscured and erased by the new revised histories of the elites, that are immortalised in the writings of the Church and the University.
Sympathisers
Having been oppressed or forced to leave their own homelands, respectively, Halflings and Dwarves would be the most likely of the common species to be sympathetic towards Goblins, and most willing to believe their stories of the Clearances. However, most simply never hear the stories, and therefore do not have the opportunity to display their comradery.
Indifferent
Most other species, including Gnomes and Orcs do not have much interest in the plights of Goblins in either direction. Gnomes are generally too single-minded to focus on anything outside their special interests, and Orcs are mostly preoccupied with eeking out their own survival amid the distrust and hostility of the more Established species of Ruslavia.
