Zakuska

Zakuska is the tradition of eating well before Vodka drinking sessions start, in order to stave off ulcers and other negative effects of alcohol. Carrying out the ritual adds a +2 bonus to any saving throws against the effects of consuming alcohol (Drunkeness or Alcoholism) for the next twenty-four hours.

Execution

  1. Drink one sip of Vodka to smooth the flow when the real drinking starts.
  2. Drink some vegetable fat, or tea and coffee mixed with a raw egg, to settle the stomach.
  3. Once the drinking session starts, make sure to eat good food alongside the alcohol: meat or fish accompanied by raw vegetables and citrus fruits or berries. Do not eat sausages or drink other alcohols such as wines or Kvas alongside the vodka.
  4. The vodka should be cool but not ice cold, and the first three sips should be drunk reciting the vodka rhyme, to allow for a suitable time between swallows.
The first sip is a firebird, the second is a falcon, the third is a thrush.
