Dragon War

During their time period of dominance, known as The Age of Dragons, the gods had disappeared and were weaken, the chromatic dragons saw an opportunity to take the world of Rüt for themselves. A war broke out between the chromatic dragons and their metallic brethren. The chromatic division of dragons believed that the should dominate and control the world and all of the planes. The Chromatic Division of Dragons began to plot the destruction of these inferior immortals. The metallic dragons did not agree with their counterparts instead they believed that gods and dragons could live side by side. So they searched out the gods of old in the The Great Arboretum to join forces and stop the Chromatic Division of Dragon
  Thus began the Dragon War.
The might of the gods and Metallic dragons was too much for the Chromatic Division of Dragons alone. The Chromatic Division sought out the Allfather of Dragons, Asgorath, not wanting to become a lost god himself he decided to help the chromatic dragons find a means to control Rüt. He searched out and found the Anomalies of Impurity. Though their origin and power are unknown the dragons decided to use the orbs to help them achieve their goals.
The orbs that Asgorath found are part of the Great Calamity of Abeir. They are infused with an evil living inside of each one. Waiting to be spread across the land leaving in its wake a trail of destruction. Eight of the orbs were taken by different chromatic dragons to be used to spread chaos across Rüt. Asgorath kept the last orb, the orb of darkness for himself.
They corrupted the dragons, taking over all functions and fusing with each dragon as some sort of parasite, until they became their own being(s). The Infernals, as they came to be known are beings of pure evil, they maintain their draconic form but it is altered beyond that even of an ancient dragon.
Each of the Anomalies of Impurity was designed to corrupt and distract humankind away from the gods: Greed - to tempt even the most devout of man; Pride - to lead them to believe they themselves and not the gods should be worshipped; Envy - of the other species of humankind, the dragons, and the gods themselves; Famine - striking at each civilization of the world plunging them into dire situations; Pestilence - or the spread of disease and sickness to the magical beings of the land; lust - to overindulge in the pleasures of life, physical and emotional; war - which broke out not only between the humanoids and dragons but also between each of the species of humanoids; death - a new development on Rüt as the species of the land were all born to be immortal so that the gods never had to worry about worshippers dying and them disappearing from the world; and lastly darkness - once the eight anomalies had taken control of the Infernal's sufficiently spread their chaos through the known world, they then joined together at the Well of Dragons to call bring about the complete destruction of the world.
The war wrecked havoc on the population of dragons, both chromatic and metallic. The gods fearing the destruction of their creation sent a messenger by means of the Celestial Planetar Grimnir to help humankind defend against the Infernals and their dragon brothers and sisters. Grimnir put together a band of heroes fight against the Infernals . Grimnir with the help of the metallic dragons formed an alliance of humankind. The alliance was made up of the metallic dragons fighting alongside the elves, dwarves, genasi, humans, and other magical beings for all of Rüt. Grimnir with the help of the gods created a puzzle box to contain the Anomalies of Impurity inside.
