From a young age Kai was a bit of an outcast, constantly bullied for his superior intellect than most. Once he became of age he decided to start a small ranch in Faerous which he raises livestock such as chickens and cows, and he grows wheat to be able to self supply his livestock. Then came the day where his father Janus Zarkov Died. Since Kai was very close with his father, this sent him into a downward spiral where he became a gambling and a drinking addict. Until one day, whilst in the Famous Casino town in Faerous, he ran out of money and he was drunk so he decided to try and gamble for a lot of money and he put his ranch down as his bet.
Kai ended up losing this bet, but the loss could not have been better for him, as the person he lost to. Was a Water Genasi who happened to be staying there for a few days with her caravan. She introduced herself as Mei Cassia
Kai was very distraught at losing his Ranch, but Mei felt sorry for the man, and she decided to give him his ranch back. At the cost that he could never drink again. He agreed and played one more game with Mei. He decided to bet his entire ranch again. In exchange for a date with her.
She agreed and found his stunt somewhat stupid, but she humoured herself anyways and she happened to lose the game. She then went on a date, and once she had seen what Kai was like when he wasn’t drunk she fell in love and they eventually got married and started a family. Giving birth to three Children: Zayne, Lilah, and Ki-ahi.
Later in their marriage Kai admits to cheating during that game just to win a date from her.
