The Shards
In the beginning there was a crystal, it resided in the center of nothing, there its chiming vibrations silently echoed in the emptiness until a something was drawn to it. Antraxus - it from beyond has never been truly known, but it is said that it shattered the crystal which was split into 6 shards, each representing a force strong enough to shape the universe. Each crystal chimed and vibrated in a song which brought together the forces of light, time, impulse, being, reflection and void.
From these forces, the planes and the world of Ryveria was born.
Shard of Being
Shard of Impulse
Shard of Light
Shard of Reflection
Shard of Void
Shard of Time
From the shards of Void and Being, the first species came into being: The Ral Hadra.
Later, entities were spawned which each represented a facet of the shard(s). These were The Gods which would be messengers for the shards (who could not be known by the more mortal races) nor could the mortals truly understand their origins.
It is rare but possible for a mortal to be elevated to godhood (or demi-god): sometimes referred to as the Exalted. if their deeds become noticed by the shards. These minor gods, were powerful but pale in comparison the the Shard-wrought, but are more widely known by the mortals of Rafuun.
Other entities have been know to spawn in areas with high levels of belief, such as the Echos spirits in Atal'Gazor, these are powerful elemental or forces and phenomena called Echo Spirit.
Over the millenia, the Shards fell into myth, legend and allegory. The gods grew in number, forming pantheons, cults and temples to themselves and by extension - the shards.
