High elf

The high elves are the ancestors of the elves who were exiled for being afflicted with the shattering death. Little did they know the shattering death was a sign of a magician. The elves trained themselves in magic and named themselves the high elves.

Shared customary codes and values

Not cutting ones hair is seen as a sign of purity as hair being cut short is to show someones shame and deems them an outcast. What is valued by the high elves is progress. they value this as they see progress as the only way to protect the life around them from the calamities that have destroyed the humans and elkirs lands.

Average technological level

Fey lights are one of the most used light sources by the high elves as they are less of a fire hazard, and never dies. Because elves have an allergy to iron and since it cancels out magic they have to use different materials as a substitute. for example wooden tools enforced with magic, clay, bones, crystals or glass. Instead of iron armour they usually use magic to form the hard barrier on top of their gamberson. they also use weapons made out of either halfway or fully magical as a way to keep their sharp edges. It also can burn trough gamberson and is pretty strong in general.

Common Etiquette rules

It is common for elves to bow when meeting a high elf that is at least a decade older. It is bad manners to use magic in formal settings unless it is needed.

Common Dress code

wearing long elaborate dresses are seen as a status symbol among the high elves. white and light colours with brightly coloured embroidery are very popular. masculine dresses usually have one split in their dress and a low hanging belt, while feminine dresses either have two or no splits in their dresses with a higher belt by their waistline.

Art & Architecture

Most high elven buildings are tall stone buildings of whitewashed stone. High pointed arches sculpted or decorated with natural shapes and images. Their architecture although inspired by nature has taken a turn for the more ancient and symmetrical style of the rumari empire.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Giving someone a fey lantern is a way of showing ones love and saying it is as eternal as the burning fey light. this can be all sorts of love not just romantic.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Elves that have passed are cremated and their ashes spread in the wild. A memorial custom is to hang personal belongings and parchment with letters to the departed in the trees of the forest the ashes were scattered in as a way to remember the one who was lost. Stealing something hanging on a tree is believed to curse the thief.

Gender Ideals

Both men and women are expected to carry themselves with pride, they believe themselves to be the most magically advanced people after all. The ideal high elf is smart, innovative and ambitious and dosent act upon their emotions. They study hard and show great care when handling magic. They never take magic for granted. Because of the high mortality rate of childbirth it is the men who are expected to take care of the children. Women are seen as a bit of a rarity because of it so it is expected that men show them respect. Young men meaning elven men that is not over 50 are not expected to act maturely. Women are expected to act mature form they are around twenty years old.

Courtship Ideals

The ideal courtship is between two high elves. They dont really care if its homosexual or heterosexual. Glass art, flowers, decorated fay lanterns and love letters are the most romantic gifts one can give. If one is engaged they ideally should not court anyone if not their intended.

Relationship Ideals

The ideal romantic relationship is usually being married to the one they love or the one they were bethorthed to. The relationship is not really expected to last for the rest of their lives as their lives are long. It is expected to last for about 50-100 years. The ideal parental relationship is to have one or two loving parents/guardians. Even though loving they need to teach them discipline and respect.
