Lovers cradle

This is a flower that usually grows in meadows. it is rare to find only one of these flowers. It got its name form a myth about two lovers.

Summary

This plant has a whole story behind it. During the elven wars, Magicians were often accompanied by a Sentinel who were their protector but were also sworn to execute the mage, should their magic get out of control. One such pair was Iveron and Lyriel. Iveron was the sentinel and Lyriel the magician. Over the course of their travels the two fell in love. but, falling in love with ones sentinel is strictly forbidden. So, in order for them to be together they ran away and abandoned their former lives. The two got married in secrecy and lived happily. That was until Lyriel got afflicted with the shattering death. Iveron knew of his former duty to execute mages who displayed signs of shattering death but, this was his wife. Before the disease got worse Lyrel and Iveron drank form a vial of poison. They were found in a field of flowers that had grown around where the lovers had spent their last moments. Thus this flower gained the name Lovers cradle and is said only to grow where true lovers ashes are scattered.

Historical Basis

This myth of the lovers cradle is based on the disappearance of Iveron and Lyriel of house Reed. They only found their many years later their reappearance was a shock to the elves as the time. although it is unknown how they actually died. Lovers cradle existed long before this story.

some places the names are a bit off as they call them Ivern and lyrel. other variations have Iveron killing his spouse and then himself.

In elven culture there is a huge divide on how this story is interpreted. Some interpret it as a warning to stay the course and be faithful. Others interpret it as an example of how everyone should be free to love whomever they want. Some use the symbol of the Lovers cradle as a sign of rebellion against arranged marriage.
