Fallow Point
Fallow Point is a small peninsula in the western region of Kaipei, jutting into the ocean beyond the volcanic mountains of Tallu and Takai. The region is understood to be fertile, rich in natural resources, and serene, although it is currently uninhabited.
History
According to legend, the gods Tallu and Takai wished to reward their followers, the Vailun, with a new swath of land. They appealed to Batai, and he lifted a segment of land out of the ocean, which Tallu and Takai made fertile and rich with minerals. But not long after, an irate Lasang went to Batai, angrily demanding that he remove the land, as raising it had erased an equal share of Lasang's ocean. Batai refused to reverse what he had done, but that Lasang was free to challenge Tallu and Takai to a duel on the new land, and that he would obey the wish of the winner. Lasang knew that he stood no chance against the two fire gods. Although Lasang had worshipers, nobody worshiped him for the ground they stood upon, as people did with Tallu and Takai. (The floating city Nova had not yet been founded.) Moreover, Lasang's powers on land were far inferior to those of Tallu and Takai. It would be foolish to fight them. So he instead went to the kingdom of the Bayinae. He asked their leader if he could use their Cymere in his fight against the fire gods; in return, he would grant the land to the Bayinae people. They accepted, and when it came time for Lasang to duel, he defeated Tallu and Takai effortlessly with the Cymere. Batai was furious that Lasang had used Cymere, but as Lasang pointed out, the terms of their duel didn't specifically forbid using Cymere. Batai, still angry, agreed that Lasang had won the duel, but he raised the earth and made Tallu and Takai volcanoes rather than let them die completely. This sparked an ongoing dispute over the rightful heirs to the land Tallu and Takai created. The Vailun and Bayinae both believe it to be theirs by divine right. However, no one dares make a move to claim it for fear of sparking a war encompassing all of Saekai, leaving the land empty despite its riches.
