Republic of Kamin

The Republic of Kamin is the second largest political structure in Samarya. Stretching from the front range of the Jinlur Mountains to the eastern coast of Samarya, they are the most significant threat to the Oda Empire's mission to unify Samarya. Kamin's capital city, Shi Xi, is known as the "Stone City" after its immense wall and palace structures, all made of stone mined from the Jinlur Mountains.

Structure

The Republic of Kamin is ruled by a council of eight officials named the Order of the Shi. Each Shi represents one state within the Republic. Shi must be nominated by 88 voting citizens within their state (typically via petition). Among all individuals nominated from a state, one is chosen at random to be in the Order of the Shi.    Voting citizens are all registered individuals at least 18 years of age, with no criminal record. The latter point is indisputable.

Culture

Kamin's culture is dictated by its worship of Erathis, the Law Bearer. Law and order are heavily respected, and there is a strong emphasis on supporting one's community.    Since the expansion of the Oda Empire, the Kamin have become increasingly nationalistic, religious, and wary of outsiders. This has put their values of fairness and hospitality to the test. Some have even forgone worship of Bahamut, claiming Erathis to be the true creator.

Assets

The Jinlur Mountains are rich in metals and coal.

History

Legend has it that long ago, the eight states were constantly at war with one another. To teach them a lesson, Erathis sent them ten years of poor harvests, bad weather, and plague. The states' only choice was to combine their resources and unite as one. To survive, they needed to learn to work together. Thus, the Republic of Kamin was born.
