History:

City run by an elected Mayor who has held power for nearly 40 years. He is in his old age and is training his son to be the next mayor.
The city has remained relatively peaceful over the last 600 years after the genocide of the Dakkeli people who used to live on the island and the subsequent war with those people. The individuals started a democratically run government system electing the great war hero of the great Mauga Dakkeli war as the nation's first mayor. The Mayor position while elected was often held for life baring any terrible rule from older mayors.
Around 700 years ago the Maugati people arrived upon the island and began settling a different area. When they first arrived they found the two tribes at war. Knowing they wouldn't be able to compete with the original group of Dakkeli on this island they allied with the Mousefolk on the island and fought one final battle which they won. After the war, the two groups slaughtered nearly every Dakkeli person on the island they could find, razing the old city and building a new city on a different area of the island. This decision is viewed in mixed light by modern mousefolk and Maguati people, but both still understand the reasonings of their ancestors even if they do not agree with their actions. Today the Maguati people mostly attempt to push aside their past actions looking to ignore it rather than dwell on it.
