House of the Golden Eyes
Peoples came from all over when the surface became unlivable. Whole kingdoms dislodged, no longer holding the land which had always given them power. One such kingdom fell, washed away into the Descent. Nearly all they had lost. They were burdened with treasure, which they exchanged for safety and right. They established a new home in Sanctuary. Able to hold onto a small plot of land in the city's earliest days. Before others could find it. It's modest, but an ancestral home now. After five hundred years the House of Golden Eyes is a proud family with a respected history. Never politically motivated or ruling in any way, they have been strong community members and have a reputation for sharing their home.
Maester Mopo is the current head of household. A wizened but spry gnomish man. He looks to be nearing his third century. But he moves like he's in his first. Though he has never had children of his own, he seems to be holding onto the seat at the head of the household a little too long for the tastes of some of his family members, most of whom are human and not quite so long lived as the Maester.
Within the household Mopo has taken a protégé in Miranda. An elven woman with a penchant for harp playing. Her Lullabies are unforgettable, but so effective few are conscious for the final chords.
There are also various heirs and heiresses about. With Mopo's continued aging, they all propose that they might just be the rightful heir once the childless Mopo is gone. But their fathers have known such folley before. Never underestimate a gnome's ability to stubbornly outlive their problems. One trait comes up again and again in the family. Heterochromia, where one eye is a different color than the other. But in this family when it occurs one eye is always golden, glittering as though the iris were made from the precious metal itself. Not all of them have it, but since the Descent it has been a recurring trait among their kinsmen.

Nestled in the Uppers, this noble house has stood since the founding of Sanctuary. While once it may have been prominent, it now is only a minor house. Often not even worthy of note.
